SDG 5 Gender Equality

SDG 5 Gender Equality

The United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), launched in 2015, set goals to achieve a sustainable and fair future for people around the world by the year 2030. Since 2016, the State of São Paulo government has been working to institutionalize the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs. Scientific research on these themes makes an important contribution to achieving the goals. As a state sponsoring agency, the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) is in line with official initiatives in progress and, over time, has offered financial support for scientific, technological and innovation research in this context.

FAPESP Initiatives and Programs for the 2030 Agenda:

  • The Center for the Study of Violence (NEV-USP) has been conducting research and training scholars by way of an interdisciplinary approach to the debate on violence, democracy, and human rights. The Center has developed a series of research projects which involve the complex relationship between the persistence of violence and human rights violations in the course of the Brazilian democratic consolidation process. Hosted by the University of São Paulo, NEV is Research, Innovation and Dissemination Centers (RIDCs) supported by FAPESP.
