Agência FAPESP – Registration is open until November 19 for the São Paulo School of Advanced Science in Structural Safety and its Role in Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions by the Built Environment, to be held on May 3-16, 2025, at the University of São Paulo’s São Carlos School of Engineering (EESC-USP).

The event is supported by FAPESP via its São Paulo Schools of Advanced Science Program (SPSAS). It will address the main challenges relating to structural safety and infrastructure resilience in the context of climate change, as well as the tools required to surmount them.

Participation is by invitation only. Between 90 and 100 students from all over the world will be selected, on the basis of an assessment encompassing PhD research topic, supervisor, academic records, and curriculum vitae. PhD students in civil and structural engineering and related fields will be given priority, but master’s candidates, undergraduates and postdoctoral researchers will also be considered.

The topics to be covered by the speakers include “Future structural codes: Navigating safety and sustainability in design”, “Climate change impact on built infrastructure, sustainability, and risk-based approaches to climate resilience”, “Sustainable and resilient critical infrastructure”, and “Reducing emissions by performance-based wind design”.

To begin registration, complete the application form, specifying your personal details, academic activities and research interests.

Travel and related expenses (accommodation, insurance, meals) will be covered by FAPESP. All selected participants are expected to present a poster of their ongoing research project.
